Before Flooring Installation
To make sure your selections and installations are quick and easy we will help calculate the correct amount of flooring product you will need. Just bring the measurements of the areas you are flooring to our showroom, and we’ll help with the rest. Remember to include hallways and closets in your calculations. Prior to ordering materials, The Little Carpet Shop will measure your spaces to insure the correct amount of material is calculated for your job free of charge!

We would be happy to measure your home for new floors! For measures or information on your flooring needs please call us our Showroom at (651) 222-4096 and ask for sales or fill out our contact form.
Scheduling
You can expect The Little Carpet Shop to install your flooring on schedule. However, on very rare occasions, the date or time of your installation may need to change due to circumstances beyond our control. The prompt installation of your floor covering is always a top priority!
Old Flooring
Removing old flooring is usually necessary and can take a considerable amount of time. We can provide this service (except for the removal of vinyl that may contain asbestos) with charges based on the amount of time spent on the job. But, if your old vinyl floor may contain asbestos, you will need to contact a licensed asbestos removal company to remove it. The Little Carpet Shop will gladly assist you in locating a company to help you out.
Heating
Make sure to set your home temperature to a minimum of 65 degrees at least 24 hours before installation and be sure to leave it at this temperature for at least 24 hours after the installation.
Closets
All closets and storage areas need to be cleared. Long-hanging clothes needs to be removed to provide at least 48″ space above the floor to allow the installers to work freely.
Doors
After your new floor has been installed, it may be necessary to trim the bottoms of some doors to account for possible changes in floor height. We would be happy to recommend a professional to perform this service.
Furniture
We will gladly move your regular furniture prior to installation. This service can be arranged through your sales professional, but may require an additional charge. But pool tables, pianos, and wood stoves must be moved by professionals and should be taken care of prior to the date of installation. Other items that may require special handling include waterbeds, aquariums and grandfather clocks, please consult with your sales professional.
Table Tops and Cabinets
We understand people like to display their China, crystal, porcelain and other breakables in their cabinets, hutches, and on table tops. But, this may interfere with the installation, so we ask that you remove anything that may fall during the installation process.
Walls
Pictures or floor-length draperies may interfere with the installation as well. So please remove draperies or tie them back at least 48” from the floor.
Electronics and Appliances
Some appliances may require special handling. Arrangements for the disconnection or hookup of ice makers, gas appliances, or commodes should be made prior to the date of installation. Computers, Stereos and other electronic equipment should also be moved before the date of installation.
